Presidential campaign: Finale

By Annie Shepherd for The Parisian Post.

Hollande wins the Presidency of France. Sarkozy announces he’s leaving the political landscape; Le Pen rallies for supporters in preparation for the legislative election to complement the Left in Parliament. Greeks vote against austerity, paving the way for possible default and return to the drachma.

.

Blackbird sings at the break of day head high

heralds in his flocks to build his nest

and feather it with promises designed

to turn the tide of Merkozy at best.

Crow leaves the field flies off, his duty done

no scare-crow now, his warnings all but shunned.

Gannet gathers colonies, preparing for the flight

to dive-bomb blackbird’s realm and rally for a fight.

For Germany, a partnership is drifting,

in Brussels the balances are shifting.

Greece reels undecided, all divided

enough the endless suffering and despair.

A euro break-up hovering in the air

and where to turn to? Blackbird, let your song be fair.
